About This Course

This course introduces students to the basics of remote sensing, characteristics of remote sensors, and remote sensing applications in various industries. Emphasis is placed on image acquisition and data collection in the electromagnetic spectrum and data set manipulations. This course is designed for geographic information systems (GIS) students interested in imagery analysis.

Objectives

After attending this course you will be able to:

  • Acquire necessary skills to process satellite imagery
  • Get practical knowledge on interpretation of satellite imagery and generate land cover products
  • Generate change detection maps from historical datasets
  • Requirements

    Basic knowledge of the Microsoft Windows operating system and its core functionality.
